On Monday 24th of November, we organized the last Knowledge Building webinar of 2025. This time Digital Twins were the topic of interest.
The CEDR DROIDS project started by giving an introduction to Digital Twins: What types are there? What are they used for? Where does the data come from?
Afterwards, the focus was moved to the port side. The Interreg DIGITPORTS project presented their plans for Digital twins rollout at multiple ports and the possibilities and challenges that come with this. We went deeper into this topic with the specific case at the port of Ravenna.
After the break, digital twins of road operators were discussed. Latvian State Roads showed how they use point clouds and 360° photos to scan their roads and create a Digital Twin. Finally, Flanders Road and Traffic Agency presented their road towards Digital Asset Management and how they use BIM to create Digital Twins.
The webinar was a success with around 60 participants and presenters from all over Europe. There was time for questions and discussion to create an interactive session where multiple parties could learn from each other.
